University services

Valahia University of Targoviste provides full quality services to foreign students, visiting professors and researchers, and other academic visitors.

Accommodation

International students will be housed in one of our student hostels, which are all located near the university’s buildings. There are several hostels that provide accommodations in fully furnished bedrooms with common bathrooms.

University Library

The university library fulfills educational, scientific, and informational purposes by providing guidance, study and research resources, and bibliographical and documentary materials. There are about 85,000 documents in it, including books, periodicals, digital library and electronic databases.

There are seven branches of the university library:

  • The Multimedia Library
  • The Theological Faculty Library
  • The Science Faculty Library
  • The Technical Library
  • The Law School Library
  • The Loan Center
  • The Central Library

Access to the library is granted on the basis of an annual membership card, which is offered free of charge to university students. Identity card, student card, and a small photograph are required for the issuance of a membership card.

Sporting venues

International students may participate in a variety of sports at various sites in Targoviste. As a result, students can partake in athletics, football, tennis, and swimming at the Municipal Stadium, gymnastics, and aerobics at the University Sports Hall, and gymnastics and swimming at the Târgovişte Swimming Tourist Complex. Also featured at the University Students’ Club are chess, tennis, handball, and fitness.

Health Services

The University Health Services provides health care to all students. This clinic offers general and dental medical care. There is also a Dambovita County Emergency Hospital in Targoviste, which provides medical services of various disciplines.

Entertainment

There are various things to do in your leisure time in Targoviste. Our students can join the Students’ Club in a variety of organizations based on their interests, abilities, and vocation, such as chess, tennis, handball, fitness, creative group, or choir. The Students’ League organizes range of activities, such as student dance parties on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Halloween and Christmas parties, the new students’ ball (in November), and anniversary celebrations. They also host concerts, shows, and other special events. Targoviste’s “Tony Bulandra” theatre boasts a large repertory of plays.

Student camps

Every year, our students can attend one of the free student camps along the Black Sea Coast or in the Romanian highlands. The National Authority for Youth and Sports provides financial assistance in this regard.

Stipends

Students might get a variety of stipends depending on their academic, artistic, or athletic achievements at university. Non-EU students can also receive government stipends based on their university achievements. In addition to the aforementioned scholarships, the University offers financial help to students who are experiencing major family events such as the birth of a child, the death of a parent, and so on.

Erasmus mobilities

Valahia University of Târgoviște is awarding 276 Erasmus Plus mobility scholarships to its undergraduates, master’s students, and doctorate students. Under the Erasmus Plus Program of the European Union, the university has 90 international partnerships with universities in 17 EU countries (Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Slovakia, Hungary) and 11 non-EU countries (Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Slovakia, Hungary) (Algeria, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, China, Chile, Georgia, Haiti, the Republic of Moldova, Norway, Serbia, Turkey). The mobility’s goals are to give students the opportunity to gain educational, linguistic, and cultural experiences from studying in other European countries, to foster inter-institutional cooperation and enrich the educational environment of host institutions, and to facilitate credit transfer and recognition for mobility periods spent abroad using ECTS or a compatible credit system.

The period of study and research mobility varies based on the students’ preferences, ranging from one semester to twelve months, during which time they are eligible for Erasmus Plus financial support
